POSITION TITLE:
Warehouse Assistant


STATUS:
Non-Exempt (Monday through Friday)

  • May require some weekend hours periodically

REPORTS TO:
Parts Manager and Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor


OBJECTIVE:
To provide the most efficient and cost effective methods of packaging and shipping products. To accurately maintain warehouse inventory while promptly delivering all received shipments to the intended parties.


GENERAL PHILOSOPHY:

To build customer loyalty through service excellence in a work environment where the employees enjoy their work because they have accepted responsibility for the success of the company.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains the accurate documentation for shipping and receiving of departmental and customer items.

Make one complete company wide mail pick up and delivery each afternoon.

Understand how to ship Fed-Ex, UPS Yellow Freight and other carriers.

Receive purchase orders.

Assists in locating and issuing parts to maintenance personnel.

Pick parts for technicians and customer orders.

Understand the handling of hazmat material and know if it is possible to ship within the regulations.

Incoming materials inspector.

Maintain shipping and receiving logs.

Understand the procedure for the rebilling of customers and employees that request product to be shipped on their behalf. Insure proper documentation is in order and if insurance is requested.

Assist in reordering hardware and stocks items as directed.

Label and organize parts.

Assist all Banyan departments by delivering parts, material, and equipment from one department to another throughout the day.

Clean and organize the warehouse.

Assist in the bagging of parts orders.

Inform customers and departments when deliveries have arrived.

Deliver packages and pick up CODs.

Assist in making copies of purchase orders and CODs.

Make pick-ups and deliveries as required.

Operate forklift truck safely and efficiently as required.

Inspect incoming parts and notify manager of defects and damage to parts.

Communicates with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

Conforms with all safety rules and wears/uses all appropriate safety equipment.


KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

To be fully proficient in this position, employees must acquire the following through on-the-job training:
A strong knowledge of Banyan's vendors,

A knowledge of Banyan's customers,

Complete knowledge and understanding of the Banyan Team Handbook,

A strong knowledge of courier companies and documents required for shipping both Domestic and International,

A knowledge of work order invoices and parts invoice forms,

A strong knowledge of Parts Requisition forms: Green, Yellow and Red Tags,

A strong knowledge of Purchase Orders,

A strong knowledge of Discrepancy sheets and clip boards,

A knowledge of the operation and care of all shipment equipment and tools,

A knowledge of Ft. Lauderdale' Executive Airport, including the location of hangars, tie-downs, fuel farm, tower, U.S. Customs, and all other FBOs located at the airport,

Knowledge of the departments of the company, their function and their personnel,

Knowledge of the computer system,


Knowledge of responsibility for:

  • C.O.D. checks
  • Storing and tracking package for customers and employees

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or the equivalent and one year of warehouse, shipping/receiving experience. Aviation experience a plus. Requires a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
