The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking academic physicians for a positions in our Division of Infectious Disease to serve as a Division Head of the Division. Proven excellence in clinical care and teaching are necessary to join our active, growing program. Research interest are encouraged.
An outstanding opportunity exists to immediately assume a leadership role as UICOMP Division Head of Pediatric Infectious Disease. This position requires Board certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease. This physician is responsible for the overall operation of the division so that, as a whole, the division supports the mission of UICOMP, Children's Hospital of Illinois, including education, clinical services, research and other scholarly activity, and advocacy.
Infectious Disease Pediatricians require candidates who are BC/BE in pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease and have completed 3 years in residence and 3 years in fellowship training in pediatric infectious disease

UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest public medical schools in the country. UICOMP's educational programs include 244 medical students and 300 residents/fellows in 21 different post graduate programs. The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments at UICOMP. In collaboration with the OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois, the Department has 19 divisions and over 145 faculty members providing general pediatrics and subspecialty services to the pediatric population in Central Illinois. The current research infrastructure within the Department includes office of research, a dedicated biostatistician and internal research funding mechanism to support our faculty.
Position Summary
Lead the development of a Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesMonitor quality and appropriateness of care.Address provider behavior and impairment issuesOversee and assure appropriate documentation and care planningLead the development of a Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease.Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Infectious Disease for medical students and residents. Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education.Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division. Establish an area of research interest and academic activity.Maintain a clinical service program to meet regional needs. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide a full spectrum of Infectious Disease.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsLicensed or eligible for licensure in IllinoisBoard Certified in Pediatric Infectious DiseaseBoard Certified in PediatricsProven Track Record of professional leadership roles in an academic institutionAcademic Rank of Associate or full Professor
