HII's System Integration group is seeking Team Leads to join our Fleet Sustainment group As a Team Lead you will play a critical role in ensuring that successful and safe work is performed on board U.S.

Naval Ships and Military installations which is vital to our Mission to protect and serve our Military. These positions are a part of the Integrated Training Systems Installation and Sustainment (ITSIS) support contract for the U.S. Navy.

What You Will Do


Supervises (Entry Level / Helper I, General Labor I and II) and coordinates activities of workers engaged in installing hardware and software and repairing wiring, fixtures, and equipment aboard ship and in laboratory facilities, following blueprints and wiring diagrams.

C oordinates regularly with government project leads and on-site installation coordinators to meet milestones and deadlines of hardware and software system installations.

Knowledgeable and able to enforce shipyard and OSHA safety requirements. Assigns work and oversees the work product.


What You Must Have

  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must have 6 or more years of professional experience in the following fields:
  • Hull, mechanical and/or electrical shipboard repair and alteration
- (4) or more years specialized experience performing work in each of the following areas:

  • Team Leader / Foreman in the ship repair / AIT industry
  • Experience leading teams of installers in cable installation, welding, paint, and lagging installation and repair on US Navy Ships in shipyard industrial environments
  • Demonstrated experience as a Shipboard Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Leader leading the installation of major systems aboard US Navy ships.
  • Demonstrated experience leading all aspects of coordinating system installations including attending daily planning meetings, providing status reports, correcting installation drawings, conducting RMMCO Checkin and Checkout and maintaining Quality Assurance (QA) Workbooks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading AIT personnel including daytoday workflow of production, safety, accountability and training.
  • Demonstrated experience of Maritime electrical systems and structural components, WAF/Tag-Out guidelines, and professional standards including the NAVSEA Technical Specification series).
  • Demonstrated experience working with the government AIT Manager, Onsite Installation Coordinator (OSIC) and QA department with executing system installations aboard US Navy ships.
  • Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints, drawings, schematics, cable run sheets, Overhaul Specification and MIL-Spec and other technical specifications
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and managing manpower resources and production schedules
  • Must have specialized experience performing work in the following Naval System areas:
  • AEGIS
  • SSDS
  • BFTT / ATD
  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience to include at least 2 years of team/deck lead/supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.

Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.

Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.

May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
