Salary Non-Exempt:
$71,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience.


Work Schedule:

The standard work schedule for this role is five days a week, with the occasional weekend day and evenings.

SUMMARY


Carlton Senior Living is proud to be known as the only Assisted Living dedicated to live, in-person training known as Carlton University.

Our team of instructors has brought live instruction to our New Hire Staff and Veteran (continuing) staff since 2016.

They create all curriculum in-house and educate staff in every department on topics such as: Dementia, First Aid and CPR, Elder Abuse and Resident Rights, Positive Approach to Care, Proper Care Techniques, and more We are looking for someone who is confident and knowledgeable in Assisted Living and with RCFE expertise.


In the Carlton University Instructor position, you will work on the Carlton University team and under the direction of the Vice President of Corporate Development.

Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and contributing to program development, maintaining training records, and representing Carlton Senior Living (the "Company") with professionalism and sensitivity.

You will develop and deliver engaging training programs aligned with Company policies and governmental agency requirements, for employees to meet the necessary qualifications and be in compliance with the Department of Social Services (DSS) guidelines.

You'll travel to various Carlton communities and the Home Office to conduct these programs, contributing to the professional development of staff members across locations.

This position requires attention to detail to maintain organization and consistency within the community.

This person should have a desire and passion to instruct, lead, be a staff advocate, and serve the senior population through education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned by your direct manager. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

  • Meet DSS qualifications and Carlton's requirements pertaining to community trainers at all times.
  • Create training programs for employees that are informative, relevant, innovative, and engaging.
  • Create training programs with content aligned with Company policies, procedures, and culture.
  • Verify the training programs fulfill the requirements for newly hired employees per DSS requirements.
  • Facilitate training programs.
  • Ability to commit to assigned schedules, which will entail occasional weekend and evening shifts
  • Know and understand dementia and how residents may be affected by the disease progression. Recognize the physical and psychosocial needs of the elderly.
  • Follow Company protocol in response to residentrelated health and safety issues.
  • Assist in managing the relationship with newly hired employees during their onboarding with the Company.
  • Create and maintain employee training records for employees.
  • Represent the Company in a responsible and professional manner.
  • Be sensitive and compassionate at all times with the staff and residents.
  • Be a team player with other Company staff.
  • Welcome visitors, family members, clients, or customers, and direct them to the proper destination.
  • Act as a resource and problem solver for current residents, guests, family, and staff.
  • Dress appropriately per the Company's standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Attend periodic staff meetings, inservice training, and mandatory meetings as required.
  • Observe Residents' Rights, as posted within the facility, to include any updates thereto.
  • Mandated reporting if you suspect any verbal, physical, emotional, financial, or neglectful treatment toward a resident or staff member, report it to your supervisor immediately.
