l applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Lindenhurst:
- U.S. citizenship and/or legal permanent resident of the United States;
- No felony convictions (
Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants from further consideration); - Valid stateissued driver's license;
- Possess 20/20 corrected vision and shall not be colorblind in a manner that renders a person unable to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position;
- Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent;
- P.O.W.E.R. Test Cards issued by NIPSTA, Triton College or Joliet Junior College will also be accepted.
The hiring process will include the following components:
- Successful completion of an orientation session/written examination, background investigation, oral interview, polygraph test, psychological examination, medical examination, drug screening, and physical aptitude test.
A maximum of (5) preference points will be awarded as determined by the Village of Lindenhurst for any one the following:
Education: Persons who have successfully obtained an Associate's Degree in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice**:
Military: Persons who were engaged in the military or naval service of the United States for at least one year, and were honorably discharged,**:

- COPY of valid stateissued driver's license (if your license was renewed with a sticker, copies of the front AND back are required);
- COPY of high school diploma or GED certificate (acceptable documentation may include copy of high school diploma, high school transcript with graduation date, dated GED, college transcript showing high school and high school graduation date, or signed letter on high school letterhead).
