MED TECH JOB DESCRIPTION
_Purpose_
To perform non-professional direct resident care duties under the supervision of the Personal Care Administrator; and to assist in
maintaining a positive physical, social, and psychological environment for residents in the Personal Care Facility. To perform
these duties in accordance with applicable current regulations and standards governing personal care facilities; and to perform
these duties in accordance with the mission of Elm Terrace Gardens to promote the health and well-being of individual residents
based on their functional abilities and potential.
_MED TECH AIDE - Duties_
1 Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and care of clothes, hair grooming
and shampooing, oral care, and shaving.
2 Assist residents with tasks of daily living as directed by the Supervisor, including
securing transportation, making and keeping appointments, shopping, use of the telephone,
correspondence, personal laundry, social and leisure activities, securing health care, ambulation, use of
prosthetic devices, and dining.
3 Provide resident care functions as directed by the Admin/Supervisor including measuring and
recording of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
4 Weighing and measuring residents.
5 Performing restorative procedures and assisting with rehabilitative procedures.
6 Complete medication documentation as required.
7 Assist dietary staff in the resident dining room with meal service as needed.
8 Identify food arrangement and components of different types of diets.
9 Assist residents in after-meal care as necessary.
10 Observe, report, and document changes in resident conditions to the LPN/Supervisor,
including changes in levels of function, appetite, alertness, and behavior, and skin breakdowns.
11 Operate resident assistive devices, mechanical lifts, wheelchairs, and other similar devices and
equipment according to safe procedures and training.
12 Respond to emergency calls placed by residents in independent living apartments or placed by
Security staff on behalf of such residents.
13 Present positive endorsement of Elm Terrace Gardens, its mission, programs, policies, procedures, and
administration to Elm Terrace Gardens residents, staff, visitors, and other constituencies at all times.
14 Report to work as scheduled.
15 Assist with resident transport to and from activities, hairdresser, on site physician, dining rooms within ETG and therapy.
16 If employee completes and passes training required per regulations to administer medications, then
- can assist residents as needed with medications prescribed for self-administration and complete medications documentation as required.
- Must comply with proper medication administration procedures including required recertification and observations to remain in good standing as per DHS guidelines.
- Proper diabetic care, including insulin and BS documentation administration, training and testing annually.
_Resident Care Functions - Physical & Sensory Req_
1 Has the ability to sit, walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, push, pull, and has fine hand coordination.
2 Has the ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.
3 Ability to see and hear adequately to observe changes in resident conditions.
4 Ability to come into close proximity of residents.
5 Ability to hear and respond to call bells, alarms, and signals.
6 Has the ability to read and write English.
7 Has the ability to communicate with staff and residents.
8 Ability to follow oral and written directions
9 Has the ability to remain calm under stress.
ACTIVITIES JOB DESCRIPTION
_ Purpose_
Assist in the implementation, and execution of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be determined by the Director of Activities.
_ Qualifications_
1 Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and completed high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school education; and
2 Must be able to positively deal with the public; and
3 Must possess or have the capacity to acquire knowledge of applicable regulations governing the development and implementation of an effective activities program; and
4 Must possess the ability to speak to and be understood by residents and staff, and demonstrate the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions; and
5 Must possess an agreeable and helpful attitude toward senior adults.
