BPL uses data visualization to streamline and democratize the distribution of data at all levels of the organization to drive data-influenced decision making.

By creating dashboards that communicate accurate data insights we enable confident, effective decision making and ensure that reporting (internal and external) is done consistently and efficiently.


Reporting to the Director, Data Analytics & Strategic Research in the Strategy Department, this position brings together internal data from multiple sources as well as external data to regularly update dashboards that support branch level and system wide initiatives.

In addition, this position will use data from the dashboards, supplemented with additional data as needed, to fulfill external reporting requirements to state and local governments and other entities as required.


Responsibilities:


  • Run set of Tableau Prep flows, with some python and R embedded in the process, which update the monthly data upon which our Tableau Dashboards sit
  • Work to improve the QA process which validates the data prior to moving into production
  • Provide updates 5 times a year to the Mayors Management Report
  • Help streamline our processes by identifying data sources / dashboards that can:
  • Be retired or need to be reevaluated
  • Be updated less frequently while working with stakeholders to still meet needs
  • Allow for a direct connection between data and dashboard, with less manual work
  • Bring a fresh set of eyes to the overall process of maintaining out Tableau Cloud Dashboard environment and suggest/implement improvements and efficiencies
  • Assist with responding to ad hoc queries from various departments and external stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Intensely curious with a strong willingness to learn; not afraid to make mistakes; willing to find creative solutions to difficult problems
  • Highly analytical and detailoriented; relishes data accuracy and clarity
  • Knowledge of Tableau (Desktop, Prep, and Cloud) data source management
  • Advanced capabilities with spreadsheet software such as MS Excel and Google Sheets
  • Use of tools to streamline and automate data collection (e.g. AirTable, PowerAutomate, JotForms, AppSheet, Salesforce)
  • Selfsufficient, resourceful, able to work both independently and in teams
  • Openminded, hypothesis led, datadriven and innovative
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Familiar with use of R, Python and/or SQL, able to make small changes and run code
  • Arc/QGIS to analyze spatial information and integrating shapefiles into Tableau
This is a part-time, temporary position for approximately 8-12 weeks. The schedule would be up to 19 hours a week. The salary range for this position is $15-$20.00 an hour.
