- Bachelor's degree (Education or Early Childhood preferred) ·
- Clearance through New York State Central Registry and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services ·
- First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Responding to Emergency (RTE) certification, or ability to obtain within 3-6 months ·
- Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred ·
- Two years of experience working in a day care, pre-school, or special education setting preferred
- Follow all OSHA requirements ·
- Assist Program Director or Program Coordinator with the development of program goals and early childhood activities ·
- Assist in preparation of lesson plans in compliance with ACD regulations ·
- Create a nurturing and supportive environment for children ·
- Implement various early childhood educational, recreational and social activities that foster development and growth ·
- Engage children in team building activities ·
- Assist an individual child or group of children with dressing and toilet training; change diapers; ensure sanitary conditions ·
- Provide classroom management ·
- Attend regular staff meetings ·
- Attend training sessions and workshops on early childhood education ·
- Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision ·
- Act as a liaison with parents ·
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Good writing skills
- Ability to work with infants and preschool children from the ages of 0-5 years
