THE POSITION:


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


In this role, you will assist in facilitating the Bureau's response to accidents at a nuclear power station, accidents involving the transport of radioactive materials, atmospheric weapons, and nuclear accidents in the northern hemisphere.

Additionally, you will review, rewrite, and understand the Bureau's Emergency Response Plan that governs the Bureau's response to a radiologic accident or incident.

Attending federally sponsored "in and out of house" job-related training courses, as assigned by the Emergency Response Section Chief or the Nuclear Safety Division Manager will be required.

Furthermore, you will complete tests and ensure all radiation and communication equipment is functional and is familiar with its use and limitations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with 60minute lunch.

Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • One year of professional experience in the recognition, evaluation, and control of radiation hazards and possession of a certificate of registration issued by the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists;
    or:
  • Certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics;
    or:
  • One year as a Radiation Health Physicist 1;
    or:
  • Two years of professional experience in the recognition, evaluation, and control of radiation hazards and a bachelor's degree in health physics, radiation physics, radiation biology, nuclear physics, or applied health physics;
    or:
  • Two years of professional experience in the recognition, evaluation, and control of radiation hazards and a bachelor's degree with major course work in the physical, biological, or radiological sciences or in nuclear engineering, that includes 20 credits in health physics or radiological sciences;
    or:
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:


  • This position requires possession of an active noncommercial PA Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:


  • PA residency requirement is currently
    waived **for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
