Summary:


As a Patient Observer, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the nursing team by closely monitoring patients with behavioral health concerns.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure patient safety, prevent self-harm, and maintain a calm environment.


Responsibilities:

Continuous Patient Observation: Maintain constant visual monitoring of assigned patients.

Collaboration with Nursing Staff: Receive reports, communicate observations, and escalate concerns to the Registered Nurse when necessary.

Patient Safety and Security: Prevent patients from harming themselves or others and ensure the security of medical equipment.

Communication and De-escalation: Provide companionship, actively listen, and employ verbal de-escalation techniques as needed.

Basic Patient Care Assistance: Assist with repositioning, walking, and other minor tasks under the direction of the RN.

Documentation: Accurately record observations and interventions using designated patient monitoring tools.

Professionalism and Teamwork: Maintain a positive and respectful demeanor while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.

Adherence to Policies: Follow all company policies, infection control procedures, and professional standards.

Continuing Education: Participate in required training modules and demonstrate a willingness to learn.


Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred; at least 1 year of patient/customer service experience is mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients.
  • Strong observation, documentation, and reporting abilities.
  • Calm and compassionate demeanor with a dedication to patient safety.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing patient needs and situations.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to move freely, sit for extended periods, and communicate effectively in noisy environments.
  • This role is wellsuited for individuals who are passionate about patient care, possess strong communication skills, and thrive in a supportive healthcare setting.
