Associate Manager, Fellowship Programs


REPORTS TO:
Manager, Fellowship Programs


LOCATION:
Hybrid in Washington, DC

***This is an exciting opportunity to support CHCI in its efforts to produce a pipeline of talented young leaders. The Associate Manager works closely with the Fellowship Programs Manager, the Director of Fellowship and Internship Programs, and CHCI Staff to provide support for CHCI's Public Policy and Postgraduate Fellowship Programs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

_ Program Management (40%)_

  • Facilitate programming sessions for program participants, with support from the Manager of Fellowship Programs and Director of Learning and Innovation.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with program participants including providing coaching and keeping them on top of deadlines and deliverables.
  • Assist in developing and analyzing evaluation data and creating program reports.
  • Assist in programspecific special events like graduations, community service projects, and offsite activities and events.
  • Provide research support to the Fellowship Program Manager when needed.

_ Systems, Processes, and Logistics (45%)_

  • Assist with scheduling programming including coordinating event space, communication with speakers, processing payments, and preparing any supplies needed.
  • Track program spending against budgets and maintain proper financial records.
  • Compose and edit materials related to CHCI Fellowship Programs including fellow biographies, placement reports, website content, and other materials.
  • Administer programs' Google Classroom platform for all programmatic materials.
  • Prepare memoranda, compose letters and routine correspondence.

_ Recruitment and Outreach Support (10%)_

  • Support CHCI Fellowship selection process, including communicating with applicants and reviewers, preparing documents, and managing CHCI's virtual interview platform.
  • Support events and strategy development for the purpose of recruiting prospective applicants and assisting the placement process.

_ Special Projects and Duties as Assigned (5%)_

  • Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:


  • Minimum two (2) to three years (3) of relevant work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Latino community, with a specific focus on firstgeneration college graduates.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding and embrace of cultural diversity in all its forms. (Including, but not limited to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, political affiliation, and religious background).
  • Some experience facilitating or leading groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office365 and Google Suite.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Must be a selfstarter with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong team player; works well under pressure.
  • Must be flexible and have a positive attitude and willingness to step in where needed.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.

Preferred:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience working with policy organizations and/or Capitol Hill.


  • Bilingual

  • English/Spanish.
  • Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, or earlycareer professionals.
  • Experience working with student leadership programs.
  • Experience responding quickly and effectively to shifting demands and opportunities
