Description

Statement of Primary Purpose
Provide instructional services to nursing students in the clinical setting.


Classification
Clinical faculty, part-time


Pay and Benefits
Follows the NCCCS pay schedule, instructional contract.
Not eligible for full time benefits. Some part time benefits available.
Additional training options and advancement available.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others
Maintain accurate records for each course taught
Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and course
Submit all college reports in an accurate timely fashion
Attend instructor and departmental meetings as scheduled


Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Instructor:

Perform clinical education duties as assigned:
Grade clinical assignments and paperwork
Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications Education

Required:
BSN.


Preferred:

MSN


Teaching and Learning certificate or other method of compliance with NCBON rule 21 NCAC C.5 required prior to hire or within 3 years of hire.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Desire to teach and guide nursing students in clinical, lab and simulation.
  • Two calendar years or the equivalent of fulltime clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Knowledge of current nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse.
  • Current CPR certification (BLS), qualifying TB test in the last year, vaccinations up to date (titers or waivers accepted for some), or ability to complete clinical onboarding requirements in a timely manner.

Physical Demands
Standing required with instructor-led clinical
Emotional, mental and physical demands typical of acute care nursing environment


Licensing Requirement
Active, Unencumbered North Carolina RN License or Multistate Compact.
Valid NC Drivers' License


Working Conditions and Environment
Health care clinical, simulation labs or educational environment
Travel for training and clinical visits as necessary


Equipment Operation
Nursing equipment
PC, copier, phones

This position description covers the most essential functions and duties associated with this position. Other duties may be assigned by the President or appropriate supervisory personnel. The College reserves the right to alter duties, responsibilities, conditions, working hours, and job title as necessary.
