    Job Summary:


    The Asset Accountant is primarily responsible for entering fixed asset, lease and general ledger transactions, maintaining fixed asset and lease records, performing account reconciliations, and report preparation.

    This position requires analytical work, attention to detail, an understanding of GAAP, and strong working knowledge of Excel.

    A highly successful candidate will display integrity, initiative, attention to detail and have a desire to support the Mission of Goodwill.

    Job Description
    Essential Functions

    Support the financial reporting cycle through timely and accurate entry of transactions into the accounting system in accordance with GAAP.

    Review account activity and perform analysis on accounts to support the financial statement reporting process.
    Maintain supporting schedules, worksheets, and records to provide support for journal entry transactions, and to comply with

    organizational

    policies and external compliance.
    Manage the fixed asset process, including creating supporting schedules, rollforwards, and maintenance of the fixed asset records.
    Manage lease accounting, compliance and reporting to include:

    validating monthly rent payments, reconciling lease accounts, maintain and update lease tracking software, preparing Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations for review and processing, preparing monthly property tax accruals.

    Support the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process with preparing assigned reconciliations.
    Compliance with internal control processes established by management; adherence to policies and procedures.
    Prepare supporting schedules, reports, and documentation for the annual audit.
    Facilitate all processes necessary for property tax compliance actions, including but not limited to:

    exemption filings, reviewing annual property tax invoices before payment processing, and preparing and submitting required schedules for annual property tax filing and reporting.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required Skills

    :

    Education
    A Bachelor's degree is required preferably in Accounting but other business major degrees will be considered.
    Experience
    Five years of experience in accounting required.
    Experience with fixed asset accounting required.
    Strong knowledge of Excel is required.
    Sage Intacct experience preferred but not required.
    LeaseQuery experience preferred but not required.
    Knowledge/Skills
    Must have a strong knowledge of GAAP.
    Knowledge of legal terminology used in contracts, familiarization with Lease Accounting standard 842.
    Ability to learn new software as needed.
    Must have the ability to work independently in a detailed and accurate manner.
    Must have high moral standards.
    Must have a great work ethic.
    Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
    Certifications and Licenses
    Must be bondable.
