- Overseeing and administering the Charter Schools Federal Grant, including meeting all financial and program objectives.
- Continually reviewing and analyzing grant procedures for process improvement.
- Tracking grant goals and requirements and develop systems to ensure fulfillment of the Department of Education responsibilities related to the grant.
- Serving as the spokesperson for the Charter Schools Federal Grant as administered by the Department and has frequent contact with schools to assess the effectiveness of grant administration.
- Drafting or assisting with development and submission of state plans, grant proposals, and performance reports for charter school to the Commissioner, State Legislature, State Board of Education and US Department of Education.
- Ensuring that the information necessary for the above reports is gathered and recorded.
- Coordinating with other Department offices regarding issues related to the grant.
- Coordinating communication with clients and stakeholders including training and technical assistance.
- Ensuring all reporting deadlines for the Federal grants are met in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensuring all necessary data elements are being gathered and financial records are being updated on a monthly basis.
- Providing projections of future financial obligations for sub grants and administrative projects on a monthly basis.
- Developing and continually updates an annual grant programs task timeline. Provides a monthly report.
- Ensuring the charter school grant program goals are met by careful and critical analysis of grant applications. This will include the development and coordination of sub grant review procedures to ensure the equality of the sub grant participants. Recommends review team members, dates, and budget.

The mission of the Office of K-12 School Choice is to support quality public and private educational choice programs by providing information and assistance to promote successful outcomes for students, families, institutions, and communities.
The Educational Policy Analyst-SES is responsible for the programmatic and budgetary review of Charter Schools Program (CSP) grant applications to ensure these meet all federal and state statutory requirements.
The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The employee must interact courteously with others. The employee's performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance at work is an essential job functio. Employee's time and effort is assigned to a dedicated function as is indicated on the monthly payroll.
As a supervisor the incumbent must communicate with, motivate, provide or coordinate training, and direct the work of her subordinates. In addition, the employee must complete timely performance appraisals, develop timely and accurate work plans, and timely approve monthly attendance and leave for each position under her direct report. The incumbent has the authority to make hiring recommendations as well as disciplinary recommendations.
