York Fresh Food Farms is looking for a part-time market assistant to work at our 2024 Mobile Produce Market in the City of York, PA, between 20 and 35 hours per week.

Part-time market assistants prep, package, load, unload, set up, wait on customers and perform other tasks for our Mobile Produce Market.

Must have a good driving record and be comfortable driving our market vehicles. A commercial drivers license is not required.

Market assistants arrive an hour before each market and complete market work 30-60 minutes after each market stop. Customer service and retail sales experience is preferred but not required. Processing payments and working with Point of Sale devices required. Work is outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

All work will be performed under the supervision of the Operations Coordinator.

The job pays $13 to $16/hour, depending on experience, qualifications and availability. No experience is required, but customer service experience is preferred. All work is outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and a clean driving record

• Fluency in Spanish
• Customer service or retail experience, particularly involving food.

Must be able to drive our market vehicles (Ford E350 shuttle bus and a Ford Econoline Van). Driver must have a good driving record and be comfortable driving our market vehicles. A commercial drivers license is not required.


What the job entails:

• Prep (clean and trim) and package harvested produce for market.
• Load market vehicle with vegetables from walkin refrigeration.
• Set up farm stand with canopy, tables, crates, bins, boxes, displays and signs.
• Assist customers with produce selection
• Process sales, total customers' orders, collect money, make change, process debit/credit/SNAP-EBT charges and take and record coupons and other food assistance payment.
• Restock and refresh produce display.
• Tear down market and load market vehicle.
• Unload market vehicle and put produce away in designated locations.
• Clean and restock market vehicle.
• Record sales and other market activity.
• Drive market vehicle to and from mobile market locations.
• Assist in produce inventory as requested.
