About the Position:

The U.S.

Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City.

The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America.

West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants.

Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.


Duties:


  • Under the USMA CIO/G6 Directorate and Chief Technical Officer, Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (SYSADMIN) for the Enterprise Services Branch (ESB).
  • Serves as a Cloud Enterprise Administrator and is responsible for researching, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting projects and activities.
  • Exercises technical responsibility for all aspects of Academy enterprise IT system operation and support.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements plans for the recovery of system data in the event of hardware or software failure.
  • Implements bestpractice cybersecurity configurations and controls.
  • Develops guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), bulletins and flyers concerning the operation/use of enterprise IT systems, services, and activities.
  • Assigns system administration studies or portions of studies and program development to lowergrade IT specialists and/or analysts hired under contract.

Conditions of Employment:


  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain required certifications in accordance with Department of Defense Publication M Information Assurance Workshop Improvement Program within 6 months of entry into the position.
  • Position is IAT-III Technical IAW DoD Publication 8570/AR25
  • In addition to being certified at the IAT-III level incumbent must obtain appropriate Computing Environment (CE) certification as required by the employing organization.

Qualifications:


Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration):

  • The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined_:_
