BUSINESS UNIT:

TERMINALS **the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers' storage, distribution, blending and logĂ­stical needs.

Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products.

We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.


PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Direct efforts to effectively execute sustaining and expansion projects managed by the Technical Services Group.

Work with Contractors, Engineering Management, Project Managers, Project Team, Operations and Maintenance departments to monitor projects and ensure adherence to the approved schedules, scopes of work, safety, and quality requirements.

Primary focus will be on the Tank construction disciplines with a secondary focus on all other disciplines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:


  • Meet regularly with Kinder Morgan engineering management to provide status updates.
  • Coordinate various construction trades contractors to minimize project downtime and maintain project schedule.
  • Oversee and direct contract inspection staff as required.
  • Assist management in the direction of small to large multidiscipline construction projects, including scheduling, quality, and safety of projects.
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, including scope of work, budget forecasting, risk analysis, contractor needs, qualification, etc. Assist with the management of purchasing requests and change orders.
  • Champion the Project Quality Reporting process.
  • Assist in monitoring projects on an ongoing basis to ensure project is completed according to schedule and within budget.
  • Audit project documentation throughout the life of project.
  • Ensure all project documentation is obtained and accurate prior to project close out. Work with document controller to ensure that this is completed in a timely manner.
  • Work with the appropriate parties to implement standard operating procedures, policies and practices for respective job sites. Utilize or develop project specific tools and procedures to streamline and facilitate the successful execution of projects.
  • Provide technical assistance in monitoring inspection and repair activities, including construction, nondestructive examination, welding, and coatings.
  • Assist in inspection of other disciplines as required.
  • Be a technical resource of your discipline for the Technical Services Group.
  • Assist in overseeing a group of contract inspectors.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION:


  • High school diploma with appropriate industry experience.

EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:


  • Five years of experience in construction, management, and inspection of tanks associated with hazardous liquid, truck loading, and related pump, storage, and metering facilities.
  • Experience dealing with multidiscipline teams and contractors in various locations on large and complex projects with short deadlines.
  • Familiarity with PHMSA requirements, API standards and ASME code specifications. Intimate knowledge of best management practices as they relate to liquid storage facilities and pipelines.
  • Well versed in Welding codes and NDE requirements such as API 1104, ASME Section IX, etc.
  • Well versed and ability to interpret structural and tank drawings.
  • Experience with API 650 and 653 codes along with relevant recommended practices and NDE requirements.
  • Well versed in NDE interpretations.
  • Experience with new tank construction and repair work.
  • Knowledge of tank In/Out of service Inspections.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:


  • API 653 required with AWS CWI and API TES preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones, such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Complete all Company required training and perform all duties in compliance with Company safety, health, environmental policies, and goals.
