DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

_WORKING CONDITIONS_
This position involves routine walking, periods of sitting, and occasional stooping or bending.
Occasional light liftings, such as three or four reams of paper or books (up to 40 pounds or equivalent weight) may be required.
-_This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level._
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
_EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS_
An Associate degree in Building Inspection or the equivalent is required.
_EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS_
Two years of skilled, journey-level experience in building trades, inspection, or plan examining in the area of analysis to be performed are required.
Substitution:
Four years of skilled, journey level experience in building trades, inspection or plan examining in the area of analysis to be performed may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Inspection, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related discipline may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
_LICENSE REQUIREMENTS_
None
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants who have experience designing or reviewing plans for utility systems and/or proficiency using GIS; and who possess excellent technical writing skills, communication skills and the ability to interpret and explain City procedures.
