Duties:


  • You will review, evaluate, and provide recommendations on complex quality and engineering data prepared by various departments.
  • You will observe, analyze, and collect data during testing and record factual engineering data.
  • You will assess test and repair equipment, analyze repair practices and procedural instructions on methods and steps of equipment and system repairs.
  • You will evaluate new or modified systems and analyze the compatibility of interlocking components or systems.
  • You will conduct technical evaluations and investigations into project and process problems which arise during the design, construction and testing.
  • You will review and evaluate changes to the shipbuilding or ship repair specifications to determine the impact of such changes on the system design, operation, construction schedule, test and cost.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a preappointment physical examination.
  • This position requires that the selectee have visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.

Qualifications:


  • Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assessing maintenance, installation, fabrication, testing and evaluation/research development and sustainment tasks of electronic systems and equipment.
Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: 1) Researching and providing technical recommendations for electrical and electronics equipment and systems; 2) Conducting technical evaluations and investigations into project and process problems that may arise during the design, construction and testing of projects and determining whether improved materials or practices can be utilized; 3) Resolving technical issues in various electronic systems such as, local and wide area networks, network cabling and control and sensing systems; 4) Preparing correspondence, technical and trip reports, memoranda, specification change notices, or work instructions to complete project assignments; 5) Ensuring specifications criteria are followed to ensure that analyses and recommendations are accurate.
