    Job Description:

    Berklee College of Music invites applications for a Part Time faculty member in the Music Education Department as a Brass Instrument Repair Teacher. The Department offers an innovative Music Education curriculum including an undergraduate music teacher licensure program, undergraduate minors in Musical Instrument Repair and Teaching Artistry, and three innovative graduate programs, two of which focus on music education for students with autism and other disabilities. Berklee's Music Education offerings are designed to empower students to
    create their future in music education by learning cutting-edge pedagogical practices, exploring new technologies and contemporary perspectives, and teaching while they learn.

    Reporting to and under the supervision of the Chair of Music Education, the ideal candidate will have content expertise in the repair of brass and wind instruments, as well as some manufacturing basics. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in pedagogical practices that engage students in a wide range of settings, including hand tool skills, dent removal, soldering and safe practices regarding power tools, torches, etc., as well as supervising independent student projects. There will also be a need to provide at least two guest lectures in the woodwind sessions of the Instrument Repair courses. Other responsibilities include keeping the workshop stocked and maintained.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience teaching students or employees in brass instrument repair techniques and practices
    • Record of practical experience in the field of brass instrument repair or manufacturing
    • Demonstration of collaboration and participation in professional workplaces
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Command of technology and techniques to support professional work and advance teaching and learning
    • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion
