    Job Description:

    The American Roots Program is seeking a banjo player to accompany students in the Women in
    Roots Ensemble. The banjo player will act as part of the ensemble.

    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    · Bachelor's Degree in Music (preferred, but not required)
    · Have a strong musical background in American Roots music.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    · Act as bassist for regularly scheduled American Roots Program classes.
    · Participate in Roots Program performances and/or additional rehearsals.
    · Assist students and faculty during class time.
    · Some nights/weekends may be required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    · Excellent sight-reading
    · Excellent musicianship, especially the ability to groove
    · A background in all American Roots styles.
    · Have complete technical command of the instrument.
    · Are sensitive to the needs of vocalists.
    · Cultivate a supportive learning environment.
    · Promote a climate of respect for personal and cultural differences.
    · Value ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional life.
    · Are self-critical, questioning, and committed to personal excellence and self-improvement.
    · Demonstrate a willingness to take on big challenges and see them through.
