    About the Job:

    The Senior Structural Design Engineer is a seasoned professional responsible for providing advanced engineering support for Self-Storage and Pre-Engineered Metal Building projects. This role demands extensive experience in structural design, proficiency in CAD software, and strong leadership skills to mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

    Core Functions:

     Conduct thorough review of project documents to identify and address potential design issues prior to estimating, detailing, or professional engineer review.

     Provide expert design guidance for complex self-storage projects or pre-engineered metal buildings using AutoCAD, MBS, TEKLA, or similar drafting technology.

     Produce comprehensive design documentation in compliance with project scope and relevant building codes.

     Lead the design of project-specific components to meet stringent structural and design criteria.

     Evaluate external engineer comments to ensure alignment with company standards.

     Mentor and train department personnel, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

     Collaborate closely with sales to deliver precise building design details tailored to customer requests.

     Assess building designs for opportunities to optimize costs and enhance value.

     Manage multiple project deadlines while delivering accurate and high-quality project deliverables.

     Utilize various software tools for diverse projects such as plant engineering, marketing, and product design.

     Act as a key liaison with internal and external customers and external engineering teams to clarify project scope, details, and limitations.

     Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding project information, status, and schedules.

     Oversee and coordinate complex outsourced drafting projects for self-storage or pre-engineered metal buildings.

    Key Measures of Success:

     Provide advanced engineering design support and documentation to facilitate the successful sale and installation of metal building products.

     Share extensive expertise in heavy structural and light gauge steel building designs, means, and methods.

     Demonstrate strong leadership qualities, self-motivation, and proactive communication with internal and external stakeholders.

     Investigate and resolve complex problems efficiently to prevent recurrence and ensure project success.

     Exhibit exceptional proficiency in AutoCAD or comparable design software.

     Display exemplary written and verbal communication skills, delivering outstanding customer service in all interactions.

     Collaborate effectively within a team environment while also demonstrating the ability to work autonomously.

     Consistently uphold and exemplify the company's core values of "Own It. Can Do. Act in Love."

    Minimum Required:

     Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related construction engineering field from an accredited institution.

     4-6 years' experience with AutoCAD software.

    Preferred:

     4-6 years' experience in an engineering setting with substantial design experience.

     4-6 years' experience with MBS or TEKLA software.

     Completed F.E. Exam.

     Intent to complete the P.E. Exam.

     Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is a plus
