    Job Description



    POSITION OBJECTIVE

    The director will oversee services and be the single point of responsibility for student success outcomes for students in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Business Analytics & Intelligence (BA&I) Programs. The Weatherhead School of Management defines student success as thriving across a) academic (measured by GPA and graduation rates); b) student life (measured by student survey outcomes); c) career outcomes dimensions (measured by starting compensation and placement rate at graduation). The school expects that director will own the responsibility for achieving the student life and career goals by collaborating with professionals throughout the school; and support the programs' faculty director who will own the primary responsibility for academic outcomes. Specifically, the director shall: raise internship and career placement goals to meet those of comparable to top ranked programs; design and implement "best-in-class" customer experience from point of entry and throughout the professional journey resulting in lifelong supporters of the school; execute this strategy in a repeatable and systematic manner and effectively leverage resources across the enterprise.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Placement: Supervise the placement services for the SCM and BA&I programs. Direct and develop a successful, repeatable student placement journey that results in 90%+ placement rates at graduation with average starting salaries above $100,000 per year. Facilitate the partnership to complement the work of the Corporate Relations team by cultivating and developing relationships with the broad spectrum of local, regional, and national employers (beyond those prioritized by Corp. Rel.) who hire MSCM BA&I graduates, explicitly targeting international students. Manage these relationships to yield competitive starting compensation levels. It is anticipated that 40-60% of students will be placed by the Director through these relationships, with the remainder being placed within the Corporate Relations relationships. Provide support and encouragement for students' progress throughout the journey. Maintain industry knowledge of career paths and the program's value proposition in close collaboration with faculty directors. Partner with Corporate Relations and Alumni teams to maximize best match between student interests and available opportunities while maintaining personal ownership to place all SC and BA students. Track placement progress following MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance guidelines on a regular basis. (55%)
    2. Career Readiness Development/Coaching/Mentoring: Supervise the career development services for the SCM and BA&I programs. Coach and mentor SCM and BA&I students to foster professional and skill development needed for job placement (internships and full-time job upon graduation). Serve as an expert resource to oversee and provide career advising and mock interviews to build student career direction, interview proficiency, industry knowledge, communication skills. Assure resume excellence in line with best practices. Collaborate and leverage External Engagement and Corporate Relations teams to create networking opportunities for students and educate them on external resources for their job search as needed. Develop and implement a portfolio of initiatives that prepare students for the job market including teaching workshops, as needed (i.e., job search strategy), on career development topics. (20%)
    3. Enrollment and Program Management: Provide strategic support for enrollment and admission teams by engaging with prospective students and providing expert knowledge about the programs. Serve on admissions committee to evaluate likelihood of academic and career success for candidate. Conduct supplemental admissions interview as needed. Collaborate with recruiting team to provide input in the selection process. Propel the programs' growth in size, quality, and diversity by collaborating on annual admission plans and initiatives to guide marketing and enrollment activities. Lead the creation and delivery of experiences and events for students in the programs to enhance the quality of both the academic and overall student experience. Plan and actively manage the incoming students' orientation. Identify and promote additional experiences and opportunities (i.e., Weatherhead degree and Executive Education certificates and experiential learning) to further customize the student experience and professional development. May serve on the curriculum committee. Oversee the administration and reporting of merit scholarship awards throughout enrollment. (15%)
    4. Budget/Reporting/Benchmarking: Develop and manage the program budget. Lead compilation, analysis, and evaluation of measurables including student development interactions (dashboards) to ensure quality delivery and mutual satisfaction. Identify and proactively work with students to ensure they take the actions needed to drive their career success. Utilize feedback to design and implement necessary adjustments. Conduct ongoing benchmarking across aspirant and peer schools to inform best in class strategies and programming leading to program enhancements and student success. (10%)

    CONTACTS

    Department: Regular contact with colleagues (Participate in departmental meetings, ongoing training); pursuing shared goals and collaborating to achieve immediate operating results and strategic priorities.

    University: regular contact with faculty and colleagues at Weatherhead, Office of International Affairs; and occasional contact with college/school leadership.

    External: Occasional contact with alumni and employers representing the university.

    Students: Frequent interactions with students to provide coaching/counseling

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

    Supervise the Business Analytics and Intelligence & Supply Chain student success manager.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience: 5 to 7 years of professional experience, preferably in related business function. Corporate and Higher Education experience desired.

    Education: MBA or Master's degree in related field.

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    1. Must possess or be able to rapidly develop sufficient domain knowledge to be credible with hiring managers in the SCM and BA space.
    2. Highly motivated, self-starter orientation to enable achievement of key goals, particularly placement of students at competitive salaries. Strong interpersonal and team-work skills with demonstrated initiative and the ability to drive toward tangible metrics (i.e., placement goals).
    3. Comprehension of business hiring practices (in general) and the ability to match employer needs with students' capabilities (specifically)
    4. Broad and robust verbal and written communications abilities spanning a wide range of needs, interacting with three different populations, i.e.: a diverse and international student population (many of whom are not native English speakers), business leaders/hiring managers (who may have a more transactional mindset), and WSOM faculty and staff.
    5. Ability and willingness to handle confidential information with discretion.
    6. Sufficient management and some analytical skills including the ability to interpret data, form reasonable conclusions, and formulate proactive plans to address issues and opportunities.
    7. Competent with spreadsheet and presentation software (i.e., EXCEL, PowerPoint). Skilled user of communications platforms commonly used by today's students (i.e., Slack and WeChat). Working knowledge/end user of admissions and student information software (such as 12Twenty, Slate and SIS) is preferred.
    8. Ability to meet consistent attendance.
    9. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    General office environment. In person during the school year, with hybrid over the summer. Occasional travel, evenings, and weekend hours are a part of this position's responsibilities on an as needed basis.
