    Description
    We're growing and looking to add an Engineering Lead to lead our product development effort and scale our team.

    Skipper is building the first K-12 student-teacher marketplace.

    Our Social Learning Platform combines a professional Learning Management System with an easy-to-use Course Builder that enables educators to create and host courses.

    Parents and students can manage their learning, follow personalized learning plans, find resources, connect socially, and showcase their achievements.

    COVID has only strengthened our market. Homeschooling is the fastest-growing form of education. In 2019, there were 3 million homeschoolers. Today, it's projected to be over 10 million homeschooled students. You can do the math; it's growing fast.


    Our platform has experienced a surge in demand from homeschoolers, educators, and learning communities seeking alternative education options for their children.

    We need to ensure that our platform can effectively scale to meet this demand and provide the necessary support for these families.

    2022 Skipper 2.0 is built with the use of microservices architecture. Our main tech stack includes, React, Node, GraphQL and TypeScript.

    What You'll Do:
    Lead the full-stack development efforts of our product

    Build well-crafted, scalable, maintainable, and resilient saas software

    Manage and mentor our small team of developers

    Take ownership of and improve our product development process and workflows

    Collaborate closely with the founders to contribute to Skipper's overall vision


    Who You Are:
    Track record of working with startups, getting MVPs to launch, and managing small teams of engineers

    Excited to work on and build out a robust platform features of collaborative communication and education

    Skilled at diving into technical problems through building, code reviews, and debugging. Additionally, you value empowering your team and prefer to increase your impact by supporting and enabling their success.

    Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and dev ops

    Experience building and architecting complex saas software with the ability to scale

    Strong understanding of databases and the ability to work efficiently and quickly

    Experience building infrastructure on a Cloud platform (AWS preferred)


    Bonus Points:
    Direct experience with TypeScript, React, Node, GraphQL, AWS & ability to read Ruby

    Experience with deploying infrastructure as code with SDKs like AWS CDK or Terraform

    You have worked with geographically distributed teams.
