Job Opportunity – Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pediatric & Neonatal Care – North Carolina

Start Date: March 16, 2026

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week; 3x12 or 4x12 schedules accepted. Every third weekend required. Float requirements apply across pediatric units. Call may be required based on workload.

Highlights:

• Multi-unit pediatric respiratory therapy role covering 70+ bed NICU, 10-bed PICU, 32-bed Pediatric Floor, and 14-bed Pediatric ED
• 50-60% of daily assignments in NICU and PICU environments requiring advanced neonatal and pediatric critical care expertise
• Epic charting system experience required; 36 hours of comprehensive unit orientation provided
• 13-week contract assignments accepted with competitive travel benefits
• Exposure to advanced respiratory equipment including high-frequency oscillators, nitric oxide delivery systems, and multiple ventilator platforms
• Dynamic clinical environment with diverse patient diagnoses and procedures across the pediatric age spectrum

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• Active North Carolina or Compact state respiratory therapy license (RRT credential)
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS, and RRT
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers must demonstrate high-level, accurate skillsets
• NICU and PICU experience required – this is a critical component of the role
• Comprehensive competency in pediatric and neonatal airway management including endotracheal suctioning, intubation assist, tracheostomy care, and extubation procedures
• Proficiency with advanced ventilator management: BiPAP, CPAP, high-frequency oscillators, IMV, SIMV, troubleshooting alarms, and weaning protocols
• Experience administering respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Flovent, inhaled Nitric Oxide, Pulmicort, Racemic Epinephrine, and Xopenex via multiple delivery systems
• Skilled in oxygen therapy modalities including high-flow nasal cannula, bag and mask, trach collar, and portable oxygen management
• Competency with specialized equipment: Servo-I, Servo-N, HOFV-3100 A & B, Alaris IV pumps, Airvo heated HFNC, Bubble CPAP interfaces, Hamilton T1, nitric oxide systems, and vest therapy devices
• Knowledge of care for patients with aspiration, COVID-19, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
• ABG interpretation and capillary blood gas skills
• Ability to float throughout pediatric units based on census and clinical need without restrictions
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
