DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • The Emergency Operations Specialist participates in the development and evaluation/improvement cycle of the Emergency Management plan. He or she is the planner and educator regarding emergency operations and will be critical in forecasting and preparing the health system for addressing risks and vulnerabilities. This position interfaces across the health system as well as community partners on a regular basis.
    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:

  • Three years' experience in healthcare related field to include emergency preparedness, safety and/or regulatory compliance.
  • Clinical experience as a hospital clinician encouraged, not required.
  • Prior Experience in program coordination preferred.

Education and Training:


  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.

License, Certification & Registration:


  • ICS
  • ICS
completion of 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 6 months of date of hire required.


Other Requirements:


  • Familiarity with healthcare emergency preparedness, including security, safety, HASMAT, OSHA, NIMS, HICS, HVA, CMS, and hospital accreditation body (e.g., TJC, DPH, DMH).
  • Familiarity with Hospital Preparedness Program capabilities and understand healthcare coalition, activities/regional response activities.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to evaluate and make recommendations regarding emergency management issues.
  • Ability to design lesson plans, coordinate courses, and assist/conduct realistic simulated training.
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts both orally and in writing. This may include various public speaking events.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Demonstrated competency in handling confidential and sensitive information required.
  • Sensitive to diverse cultures and cultural differences.
  • Knowledge of community services.
  • Flexible hours required, including night shift emergency call in.
  • Selfmotivated and ability to be independent and flexible within a team framework.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner

Full Time, Shift 1, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
