- Delivers respiratory therapeutic services such as oxygen therapy, medical gas therapy, bronchodilator therapy, airway maintenance therapy, and non-invasive ventilation (NIV).
- Provides diagnostic respiratory services and non-invasive monitoring including pulse oximetry, arterial blood gas procurement, capnography, pulmonary function testing, apnea screening, bronchoscopy assistance, and EKG procurement.
- Manages ventilators, conducts arterial blood gas sampling/analysis, administers and monitors oxygen use, aerosolized medications, and therapeutic modalities.
- Conducts critical care procedures including airway management, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, and patient transport, participating in CPR/Code Blue and Rapid Response teams.
- Assesses patients, recommends care plans following protocols, conducts chart reviews, documentation, and provides patient and family education on disease and treatment plans.
- Acts as a preceptor for students and staff.
- Cleans, assembles, and maintains equipment following infection control guidelines, troubleshooting equipment problems.
- Assists with general department functions and may receive cross-training in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and pediatric units.
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required
- RRT NBRC status required
- LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire required
- Required certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from either AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross upon hire
- Various physical demands with lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, handling objects, and dexterity requirements.
