ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The City Auditor Department is seeking to fill an Associate Auditor position. This position reviews City processes to identify ways to improve the City's efficiency, increase program effectiveness, and mitigate risk.

The position will work with departments throughout the City, gaining a broad perspective of municipal government and impacting how the City delivers services to the public and internally.

The City Auditor Department strives to incorporate new technology in our engagements, including data analytics and ensures that staff receive continuing education and training opportunities.


This position is entry-level and will be responsible for conducting audits and reviews of City departments, other governmental units, and/ or private businesses contracted with the City.

Review areas may include financial operations, management controls, federal grants, contract compliance, policy and regulatory compliance, process improvement, and information system management control.

Additional duties include preparing audit programs, evaluating the effectiveness of management controls, and preparing reports. Work is performed under the general direction of a Deputy City Auditor or Senior Auditor.

There are vacancies at both Aviation and Downtown offices and placement will be made based on department needs. The offices are less than 4 miles apart. Hours are typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM but may be flexible.


IDEAL CANDIDATE:


  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel.

SALARY:


Pay Range:
$27.49 to $44.77 per hour.

Hiring Range:
$27.49 to $31.82 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience writing reports.
  • Experience presenting data.
  • Experience with data analytics, auditing, and accounting.
  • Experience with "Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards" (GAGAS).
