EMC - Eden Medical Center


Position Overview:

Provides a variety of support services for the efficient operation of the department.

Under supervision, follows directions in accordance with accepted standards and practices, to provide services to meet the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients.

Customer Care
a. Maintains good relations with patients, medical staff and other departments as well as other hospital that use services. Communicates clearly and tactfully with patients. Maintains harmonious relationship with unit and coworkers, providing support and assistance to coworkers to ensure quality care.
b. Consistently interprets and transcribes physician orders correctly. Processes manual and computer test orders for lab areas. Organizes work to complete job tasks in a timely manner.
c. Consults with medical staff and other health care providers on matters relating to laboratory services. May be assigned Lead Administrative Assistant III, in absence of Administrative Assistant Supervisor.

Communication
a. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Receives, handles and transfers phone calls and messages within the department promptly and courteously.
b. Maintains an adequate filing system so that information can be retrieved and assists in preparing reports. Performs light typing; operates a CRT and other related office equipment in fulfilling work assignments. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
c. Assists in training/orientation of new hires. Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for the intended audience. Serves as a resource to other employees.

Customer Satisfaction and Teamwork
a. Consistently demonstrates the ability to recognize, establish and deal with priorities first. Communicates clearly and tactfully with patients.

Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle difficult situations, remains calm even when a patient, MD, coworker or other EMC employee is upset.

Identifies when help is required in providing patient care and seeks it appropriately, recognizing own limitations.
b. Greets callers, ascertains name and firm represented and notifies appropriate employee of visitor arrival.
c. Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.


EDUCATION
- _ Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma._

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • Minimum 1 year healthcare environment experience
  • Minimum 1 year Radiology experience
