Description

The Accounting Manager supervises the Staff Accountant and the General Ledger Team. They oversee job cost accounting, monthly account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

Responsible for mitigating and reporting project risk
Participates in meetings and committees

Duties of the Accounting Manager

Assist with preparation and review of General Ledger closing process culminating with the preparation of the monthly financial statements for multiple related entities.
Manage the General Ledger team (including mentorship and training) and other members of the Accounting Department as needed
Oversees the reconciliation of all general ledger balance sheet and income statement accounts
Manage, monitor, and review monthly billings for projects
Prepare monthly work in progress (WIP) schedule
Assist with updating and maintaining project, labor, rate tables for projects
Understand Accounting Department and company needs, and assist with developing new or refined processes
Assist Controller with year-end audited financial statements and tax returns
Oversees tax (sales tax, student success act, etc.) reporting
Prepare and update standard operating procedures
Assist Controller with various projects as needed

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the job but are not all inclusive.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
At least 5 years of accounting experience
Strong management background
Computer literate with excellent MS Excel, MS Outlook skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Must be able to follow written and verbal instruction
Can work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Exercise independent judgment within defined parameters
Familiarity with construction industry (preferred)
Familiarity with Oracle (preferred)
