    Director of Family Philanthropy

    Description

If you are passionate about a rich and diverse liberal arts
environment, have a penchant for building relationships, and love
to travel, we'd like to hear from you. Middlebury is seeking a
Director of Family Philanthropy to join our Advancement team and
help support the mission of the College as we launch For Every

    Future:
the Campaign for Middlebury. In this position you have the
opportunity to tell a compelling story about a college that is
redefining the liberal arts and sciences for the 21st century by
working with current and past parent donors. With a reach that
extends beyond its Vermont campus, state-of-the-art environmental
initiatives, and entrepreneurial spirit, Middlebury is capturing
the attention of people who want to be part of something
    exciting.

The Director of Family Philanthropy reports to the AVP for
Development, serves as prospect manager for a prescribed donor pool
and supervises the Associate Director of Family Philanthropy
directing activity and providing strategic oversight for the
assessment, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for
Middlebury parents and grandparents, current and past, and young
alumni from generous families with the philanthropic capacity
    ratings above $100,000.

The Director coordinates with Advancement colleagues and campus
partners to sustain and increase overall fundraising of the parent
population while maximizing the engagement and support to achieve
established institutional financial goals to support Middlebury's
    mission.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a
hiring range of $118,804-$151,508 per year. This role is
anticipated to be in-person, with flexibility for remote or hybrid
    arrangements for the ideal candidate.

    Core Responsibilities:
Manage the Family Philanthropy Program, a holistic approach
which includes oversight of the assessment, cultivation,
solicitation, and stewardship of all Middlebury undergraduate
current and past parents along with recent graduates of generous
families with an estimated gift capacity of $100,000 and above
    across the division.

Supervise the Associate Director of Parent Giving, who manages
the Parents Committee and a prescribed donor pool of parent
    prospects.

Establishes and maintains a portfolio of prospects to solicit
leadership, principal, planned and blended gifts from prospects
with the estimated giving capacity of $100,000 and above. Work
independently and creatively to match donor interests with
institutional priorities and develop funding proposals with the
ability to negotiate and structure complex gifts.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of the College's campaign
priorities, academic and co-curricular programs; develop
relationships with key faculty and administrators working with or
impacting parent constituents; and support Advancement colleagues
    working with parent prospects.

Prepare briefings, stewardship plans, proposals and new fund
    agreements for prospects, collaborating with

Advancement colleagues, the President's office and members of
the Senior Leadership Group. Travel with the President and other
members of the Administration to engage, cultivate, solicit and
    steward top donors.

Develop comprehensive engagement strategies for regional
fundraising related to their assigned prospect pool and the overall
    pool of parent prospects.

Develop a family of wealth programming working across
Advancement to implement cultivation opportunities and solicitation
strategies for recent graduates of parents who are generous to the
    institution.

Keep abreast of current best practices in the Development
profession and evaluate new and emerging ideas for potential
    implementation.
