_region.__ Occasional in - office required._**The HS Case Worker is responsible for completing home studies and post release services using trauma informed care, child welfare practices, and case management for minors and their sponsors within the immigrant and refugee population. HS Case Workers will need to complete detailed assessment reports. The HS Case Worker will report to the HS/PRS Regional Supervisor and will work with the HS/PRS Program Director, assigned HS/PRS Senior Program Manager, other HS/PRS Caseworkers, local community social service providers, and vulnerable children, and their Sponsors.

  • Manage their assigned caseload of home studies and post release services.
  • Comply with CPLC and ORR policies, procedures, and timeframes for their team
  • Conduct home studies and complete reports to assess the safety and appropriateness of the child's placement with their sponsor prior to their release to the sponsor and determine which community services are needed to address/mitigate risks
  • Complete timely, professional, and thorough documentation
  • Provide ongoing case management to children and their sponsors post release and connect to community resources across a range of domains (i.e. education, health, mental health, legal/immigration proceedings, vocational programs, etc.)
  • Provide escalated, intensive crisis intervention services (via telephone and in person) to children and their Sponsors to help stabilize child and Sponsors in crisis
  • Ensure that each child and Sponsor receives the highest quality home study visit and ongoing support and referral to services possible
  • Maintains telephone contact and conducts virtual and inperson home visits with children and sponsors
  • Perform related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice management reserves the right to revise these duties as necessary.
  • Must maintain a high level of discretion/confidentiality regarding Child/Sponsor information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • BSW degree or an equivalent degree in behavior sciences or education, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science equivalent
  • 1 year experience conducting home studies preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license, in good standing
  • Excellent clinical and crisis interventional skills
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent organizational abilities
  • Excellent judgement
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must possess strong computer skills in MS Office, including Excel, Word, Teams
  • Indepth understanding of child welfare best practices, trauma informed care systems, and working within homes and communities
  • Must be knowledgeable about family preservation, kinship care, and/or general child welfare
  • Knowledge of local community social services
  • Specialized experience conducting home studies and working with immigrant populations, with clinical experience preferred
  • Prior experience with ORR HS/PRS preferred
