Equix is a privately held construction firm that develops companies and professionals in the technical and construction services industries across the country.

Equix performs a variety of utility and infrastructure projects offering full-service surveying, design, construction, and maintenance services to the broadband, electric, oil and gas, heavy civil, pipeline, water and wastewater markets.

We have a current opening for a full-time Payroll Coordinator that will assist in administering payroll functions for multiple companies.

This includes ensuring that computing, withholding, and deductions associated with new pay are completed properly in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Process and post weekly payroll for multiple companies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of paychecks
  • Ensure time is approved by managers and verifies weekly time submissions
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of payroll files and records, including information relating to new hires, terminations, employee tax changes, paid time off accrual and usage, per diem and other changes
  • Respond to employment verification requests
  • Process any garnishments received for multiple companies
  • Periodically review and suggest recommendations to improve the payroll process
  • Process unemployment claims and respond to unemployment inquiries from state departments
  • Maintain awareness of state and federal legislation and tax laws affecting payroll
  • Assist with yearend processing of W2's, reporting, printing and auditing
  • Respond to employee or manager questions as they relate to payroll and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Set up new hires in payroll system
  • Process and submit certified payroll reports when applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and have the ability to multitask
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook and Excel or related software
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
  • Must be customer serviceoriented and have strong analytical and organizational skills
  • The ability to adapt and thrive in an environment with a rapid changes will be critical to the success of this position.
