Description

The Resident Assistant provides quality personal care to residents; assists residents with certain activities of daily living as specified on individualized resident care plans and assignment sheets according to established policies, procedures and objectives of the facility; accompanies residents to structured social/leisure activities according to daily schedule.

• Performs and documents resident care delivery as specified on care plans, individualized assignments and bath schedules.
• Monitors and meets resident needs consistent with standards of care such as bathing preferences; makes beds as assigned.
• Reports observations and suggestions promptly to the charge nurse and/or Director of Nursing.
• Properly uses and cares for equipment and supplies.
• Answers call lights and resident requests in a timely manner; responds rapidly and appropriately to situations involving resident and coworker safety.
• Helps maintain neatness and orderliness of resident rooms, equipment, spa rooms, utility rooms and common areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

• Normal routine includes but is not limited to resident transferring tasks, lifting tasks, bathing residents, making occupied or unoccupied beds and assisting with resident dressing and personal hygiene.
• Lifting of objects weighing 3550 pounds on a regular basis; mechanical lifting devises (carts, dollies) or team lifts should be utilized.
• Ability to stand up to two or more hours at a time.
• Ability to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
• Sufficient auditory and visual acuity to interact with and/or care for others.

• Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
• Work performed is in a resident care area; in an area where residents enter; working directly with residents; and/or with specimens that could contain infectious disease pathogens. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other infectious agents requiring transmissionbased precautions, and the Resident Assistant is required to adhere to employee health screenings, trainings and competency checks for job related tasks and per facility policy.
