Roles and Responsibilities

As a member of the University of Virginia team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of the project from a land cable installation perspective. This includes adhering to customer specifications, staying within budget and meeting agreed upon timelines as outlined in the contract between the company and its customer. Your specific tasks will include:

  • Finalizing the technical implementation of the HV land cable system before it is installed on site by the company's installation teams or subcontractors.
  • Developing final technical installation documents and deliverables, such as general arrangement and layout drawings, as well as method statements describing the installation process for the cable system in various environments (e.g. buried in trenches, in galleries, tunnels, underground electrical stations).
  • Creating drawings for metallic structures that will support the HV cables and accessories in joint bays and electrical substations.
  • Conducting interface studies for the entrance of the land HV cables into the DC hall of the AC/DC converter station, and preparing relevant documents (e.g. drawings, method statements) for civil works engineering, cable pulling, installation of HV accessories, and installation of electrical testing equipment.
  • Participating in technical meetings with customers and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree with a specialization in civil engineering, materials
