Minimum Qualifications:


High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in maintenance, general labor, or custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Good oral/written communication, interpersonal and public relations skills needed; must possess or obtain within nine months of employment, a Registered Technician Pesticide License.


Current valid driver's license and good driving record required.

Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.

Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.


Duties:


Park District Operations is divided into six districts, Dodd Park, Daniel Park, Rockwood Park, Huguenot Park, Horner Park and Central (County Complex vicinity).

Districts are responsible for maintaining parks, school grounds, library grounds and other county facility grounds within their district. Bring your appreciation for working outdoors to Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation. We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team. Our parks maintenance staff work year-round with early hours and a strong benefits package.

Perform grounds maintenance tasks including litter removal, mowing and repairs to fixtures; turf management (seeding, fertilizing, etc.); athletic field maintenance; minor construction and other related tasks; operate various types of equipment and power tools; perform carpentry and plumbing tasks; available for emergency storm response; lift 50 pounds or more.

Perform other work as required.


This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

Shift:

Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays
