    Postdoctoral Associate - Pediatrics Hematology Oncology Job Description:

    Our laboratory is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to use unbiased approaches (RNA-Seq, scRNA-Seq, spatial profiling, and flow cytometry) to identify novel molecular and cellular events in solid cancers with different treatments. Functional validation of results using standard molecular biology techniques will be performed in vitro and in vivo using patient derived xenograft line, primary samples and murine models. The ideal applicants should have a doctoral degree (PhD or MD/PhD) with ideally (not mandatory) background in cancer biology, tumor immunology, and immunotherapy with experience in:
    • Molecular biology for cell genetic engineering of immune cells (e.g., CAR T cell production) and tumor cells using techniques such as CRISPR, viral transduction, cloning, subcloning and plasmid transfection (e.g., PiggyBac)
    • Bioinformatics (bulk and single cell RNA sequencing)
    Preference will be given to candidates with qualifications also in:
    • Molecular Biology (e.g., RNA extraction/production/sequencing, WB, PCR)
    • Cloning, subcloning
    • Cell culture (tumor cells and immune cells such as dendritic cells and T cells)
    • Immunohistochemistry
    • Microscopy
    • Flow cytometry
    • Animal surgery and monitoring
    Duties:

    Design and develop research projects with the Principal Investigator

    Lead at least two independent research projects simultaneously alongside collaborative projects with other team members

    Conduct experiments using a variety of techniques including qPCR, RT-qPCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation, cloning/subcloning, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, Western blotting, FACS, mass spectrometry, transcriptomics, CRISPR-Cas9, etc.

    Perform data collection and analysis

    Initiate and maintain cell cultures

    Prepare and maintain biological stocks

    Maintain proper lab and experimental records, both digital and hard copy

    Test, optimize, troubleshoot new and existing methods and techniques, and update protocols

    Guide and train undergraduate and graduate student researchers

    Prepare scientific results for publication in peer-reviewed journals and grant applications

    Maintain laboratory equipment and order supplies as needed

    Present results at internal and external meetings and scientific conferences Expected Salary:

    The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package. Minimum Requirements:

    PhD degree (within 3 years) in biological sciences (e.g. molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, biology, biomedical sciences, chemistry and related fields) Preferred Qualifications:
    • Two first-author peer-reviewed publications in English language journals
    • Experience in mammalian cell culture and basic biology techniques including qPCR, RT-qPCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation, cloning, immunoprecipitation, fluorescence microscopy, and Western blotting
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Familiarity with computer languages is desirable.

    • Experience in Virology, mass spectrometry, transcriptomics, CRISPR-Cas9, protein purification
