- Serve as the main point of contact for all production inquiries related to conservatory events.
- Create detailed calendars and timelines for the annual conservatory season of produced work.
- Coordinate meetings with incoming directors, designers and creative teams.
- Teach technical theatre classes and mentor students for apprenticeship/internship opportunities.
- Track production costs.
- Manage production-related check requests and reimbursements with the Director of Conservatory Operations.
- Provide the Director of Conservatory Operations with contractual details for independent contractors.
- Coordinate, schedule, and run: production meetings, load in discussions, and post-production debriefs.
- Schedule and coordinate archival photographers and videographers for conservatory produced shows.
- Participate in facility and operational trainings as required.
- When this position is not actively working on productions, they will be an active and hands on member of the education department.

- Equipment and Supplies
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of conservatory and venue inventory. Understand layout, design and assets of each performance venue.
- Maintains inventory and supplies necessary for conservatory-related productions (marley tape, gaff tape, spike tape, basic power tools, gobos, etc.).
- Purchases and/or rents equipment as needed, within budgetary limits. May need to rent and drive vehicles to pick-up or return rentals or purchases.
- Makes recommendations to the Conservatory President regarding capital purchases of technical equipment.
- Manage inventory of conservatory-owned scenery and props.
- Establish and maintain relationships with various vendors (ie: dry ice, lighting, etc)
- Pre-Production
- Interview, hire and on-board independent contractors for design positions.
- Provide venue specs to designers. Seek out answers to questions.
- Provide cost estimates based on provided designs in order to support the execution of costume, lighting, scenic and other technical design needs.
- Production – Creative Team
- Provide oversight of all production and technical staff, including independent contractors, part-time staff, and full-time production employees in the education department).
- Schedule and coordinate travel & housing for visiting performers and creative team members on conservatory produced shows.
- Serve as a designer/operator as needed for conservatory productions in the BrickBox (ex: Sound Designer/Audio Engineer).
- Production – Technical Components
- Responsible for the successful interpretation, engineering and realization of all designs (scenic, lighting, audio, properties). Ensure these components are accurately presented and maintained throughout the run.
- Coordinate execution of designs with vendors. Execute vendor and shop contracts as needed and provide to finance.
- Track expenses and balance budget.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Be present at all technical rehearsals and opening nights. Run load-ins and load-outs.
- Labor & Personnel
- Work with the THT Production Manager and BB Production Manager to coordinate call times for conservatory events and IATSE Local 96 stagehand needs (if applicable).
- Track labor hours and overtime.
- Work with venue production managers and/or company managers to resolve labor and performer issues.
- Consult on the collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 96.
- Establish and maintain conservatory policies and procedures around use of space and equipment.
- Supervise and assist non-IATSE crews as needed (spot operators, run crew, wardrobe assistants, etc.).
- Adhere to the organization's values at all times and in all interactions with faculty, staff, volunteers and members of the public.
- Fully comply with the organization's rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of all spaces.
- Ability to work extended or irregular hours to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
- Ability to communicate in English proficiently, both verbally and in writing.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and use of the internet.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

- Advanced organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage and coordinate numerous projects and tasks simultaneously in a busy, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to serve as a designer within the production season as needed.
- Ability to manage and communicate with students, IATSE crew members, parent volunteers, staff, guest designers, and anyone else working on a production.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, donors and members with high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.

- Possess a general understanding of the principles of stagecraft, manual and automated rigging systems, lighting design, audio reinforcement, stage management and event management.
- Possess a general knowledge and/or understanding of working with collective bargaining units.
- Possess a general knowledge of carpentry and construction.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Comfort working as a member of a team
- Comfort collaborating with a team whose purpose is to advance performing arts education and experiences.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time (upwards of 5 hours) and climb stairs repeatedly.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel.
- Ability to move throughout theatre environment and building, and continuously perform essential functions for an extended period of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 LBS periodically.
- Ability to see details at close range.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre, Production Management, or a similar field
- 4+ years experience in production or event management in theatre, arena, theme park, convention center, or similar public facility.
- Specialty in at least one technical theatre/design field. For example, lighting, audio, scenic.
- Experience teaching or working with youth in an educational setting is strongly preferred.
- OSHA certification is a plus.

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Conservatory Production Manager will be responsible for oversight of productions and events produced by The Hanover Theatre Conservatory (THTC). Their primary responsibilities will include working with the directors, designers, technical crew, and management team to make sure the technical elements of each production are completed safely, on time, and on budget. In addition, this position will help to advance the conservatory's technical theatre/design department by mentoring and teaching students.
