JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
PROJECT COORDINATOR (SOLID WASTE DIVERSION)
DEPARTMENT OF STREETS & SANITATION
Number of Positions: 1
Starting Salary:
$67,656; Grade BX-15
This position will support the department's material management diversion programs, including its recycling, composting, and source reduction programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Support the development, implementation, and management of the department's waste diversion programs, including recycling, composting, and source reduction programs
- Develop content for community education and outreach events, presentations, website, blogs, and newsletters
- Coordinate and lead community education and outreach activities, such as presenting or tabling at community meetings or events and providing education or guidance to diverse audiences in schools and other organizations (This will include occasional work on evenings or weekends.)
- Support strategic planning efforts related to waste diversion
- Support tracking and evaluating the department's waste diversion initiatives and goals
- Respond to resident/public inquiries and service requests related to department waste diversion programs
- Additional duties may be required for this position_

Department of Streets & Sanitation
Address: 2 N LaSalle, Suite 1320
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. (Occasional work on evenings or weekends will be required)

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Social Sciences, Planning or a related field, supplemented by three years of experience in program administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Environmental Science, Sustainability or degree directly related to the position
- Previous experience developing or implementing programs or policy for solid waste diversion such as recycling,
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Software Word and Excel
