How you can make a bigger difference:

The Kaplan House (Manhattan) provides therapeutic and support services to adolescent's ages 17-21 who are referred to us through ACS and the Juvenile Justice system.

Our residents have experienced significant trauma, resulting in behavioral, emotional, and functional/ development issues.

Kaplan House offers an extensive independent living skills program, including vocational preparation, and educational services that assists youth towards reaching independence.


The Director is responsible for the overall day to day operations of Kaplan House, a Hard to Place Group Home for young men.

Under the direction of the Senior Program Director ACS/OCFS Children's Residential Programs, the director will be responsible for the overall coordination, administration, management and leadership of services and programming provided within the residential programs.

In addition, s/he must provide safe, high quality, programs and adherence to The Jewish Board policies and procedures.

In collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment team members, the Director must ensure the integrity of treatment planning processes and maintenance of highest documentation standards as required by regulations and professional scopes of practice.


Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish annual goals for the program.
  • Create and encourages opportunities for staff development and professional growth.
  • Ensures programmatic compliance with auditing standards and agency policies.
  • Represents the programs at external stakeholder meetings.
  • Has overall clinical and administrative responsibility for the program staff; including staff supervision, training and development
  • Ensures that any necessary programmatic systems are in place to meet all client safety needs, both on and off grounds
  • Makes certain that appropriate direct clinical supervision is provided to all clinical staff members
  • Ensures appropriate psychiatric, assessment, therapeutic and independent living disciplines are available and administered to the residents
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented individuals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:

  • LCSW, LMSW or a Master's degree in a Behavioral Health or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in either a child welfare, Juvenile justice, mental health, or other residential treatment setting, three (3) of which having been in a senior managerial/operations level capacity.
  • A current, valid and clean Driver's license is required for this position
