- Responsible to assist in the management, growth and development of the Transportation team.
- Provide leadership, partnering closely with the Local Business Leader and Senior Management Team.
- Focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators and contribute to the overall success of Tennessee and the East Region.
- Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
- Support our clients and the industry through innovative thought and advancement of transformative transportation projects.
- Collaborate with other local offices and in-house national transportation delivery experts to provide clients with innovative and future-focused solutions.
- Support transportation business development efforts, strategy development, client engagement and pursuits in Tennessee.
- Serve as key staff on pursuits: project manager, deputy project manager, design lead, advisor, etc.
- Assist in the process of procuring contracts with preferred contractors for transportation projects.
- Engage with clients to develop new business leads and project pursuits.
- Develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work.
- Represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations.
- Lead the delivery of transportation projects and project teams for agencies in Tennessee and the Southeast as an active member of the transportation team.
- Lead key projects as Project Manager, Sr Lead, or other roles as appropriate.
- Participate in contract negotiations.
- Guide staff and assist in project management responsibilities, including oversight of project financial performance, adherence to project management and quality control plans, and adequacy of risk management plans.
- Provide leadership and oversight to ensure quality project deliverables, including PS&E documents, engineering reports, project memorandums, etc.
- Proficiency with technical writing, Microsoft Office suite, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads), technology, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and civil design.
- Tennessee Professional Engineering license, or ability to obtain within 6 months (multi-state preferred).
- Highly proficient with civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Experience working on TDOT and local municipality projects.
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including project involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and reconstruction, new design, and construction projects.
- Demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment, and successfully managing multiple projects and task assignments, relying upon experience in design quality control programs.
- Strong knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Highly proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, and discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation InRoads / Open Roads, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools).
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Master's Degree in Engineering in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
