Your tasks

As a building cleaner at the City of Bochum, you will be assigned to the Central Building Cleaning department. Your tasks include:

  • Cleaning of numerous buildings (e.g. schools)
  • Cleaning and maintenance of various machines and equipment
  • Glass cleaning, graffiti removal, construction cleaning, and parquet and facade renovation
What qualifications do I need?
  • Completion of 9th grade of secondary school or
  • Completion of 10th grade of secondary school type A or
  • Intermediate school leaving certificate or
  • Only the academic part of the technical college entrance qualification or
  • Full technical college entrance qualification or
  • General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur)
Training process

The training lasts a total of 3 years. During this time, you will learn various content and skills that you will need for your future job.

These include, for example:

  • Accepting orders, planning and preparing work tasks
  • Application of surface treatment agents
  • Use of ladders, scaffolding, fall protection, aerial work platforms, and facade access systems
  • Use of cleaning equipment and machines
