    **Description**

    The Logistics Support Specialist (LSS) reports to the Sales & Revenue Recognition Manager. The LSS assists with overall coordination of logistics procedures and practices to ensure that the company is operating under best practices for all. The LSS ensures compliance with company policies and established regulations pertaining to environmental health & safety; security; cost controls; inventory quality and quantity specifications; and reports on logistic issues and projects. The LSS assists to drive the logistics value chain for excellence within the organization. The LSS assists the logistics supervisors and coordinators in further developing and executing strategies that will improve carrier relationships and customer service, maximize equipment utilization and focus on cost reductions and overall optimization of logistics resources. The LSS will support the Heavy Media Plant (HMP) transportation activities within and from the US and Canada to optimize use of equipment, facilities, and transportation in the movement of scrap materials. This will be accomplished through daily direction of traffic activities, regular interaction with freight forwarders, operations commercial representatives and customers regarding shipments and related issues. This position will cover/assist the Transportation Supervisors and the Logistics Team on a day to day basis

    This position operates within broad parameters. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of logistics. Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively and efficiently decreases accidents and errors and increase profits.

    **Essential Functions:**

    Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S)

    + Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors.

    + Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards.

    Anticorruption Responsibilities

    + Communicating upward any suspected or actual violations of the Anticorruption Manual.

    Operational Performance & Best Business Practices

    + Maintains contract files for tracking purposes and tracks all sales from inception through shipment execution.

    + Monitors and tracks container sales shipments, L/C documentary requirements, and L/C payments through all stages of contractual agreements.

    + Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly tracking reports for various sales and shipment activities.

    + Confer with drivers to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.

    + Relay information to or from the Logistics Manager and other Dispatchers.

    + Monitor and update SAI system accordingly for sales and shipments.

    + Securing trucking/drayage for domestic/export shipments as requested.

    + Assist Non Ferrous Sales Support write up sales contracts if needed.

    + Record all sales contracts & detailed info for each specific contract.

    + Work with MRB Credit to ensure credit is available for each customer account prior to shipment.

    + Request deposit payments from customers as needed for specific contractual requirements.

    + Liaison with Operations teams to schedule export/domestic shipments.

    + Request bookings for export sales & secure delivery appointments for domestic sales.

    + Request & schedule trucking/ drayage for all sales contracts both Domestic and Export.

    + Enter necessary fields in SAI for all sales contracts (Material Reqs, Sales Order Hold Releases, Export booking entry, sales releases, Freight O/D Pair entry).

    + Create and send invoicing, packing lists, loading documents & loading photos for export and domestic shipments to the necessary email recipients. Save documents/photos to the shared drive folder for record keeping.

    + Assist the loading yards & MRB Bookings in resolving any issues that may arise.

    + Assist MRB Bookings, MRB Credit & MRB Invoicing with inquiries regarding sales shipments.

    + Arrange and schedule inspections when applicable to a contracts requirements.

    + Customs documentation for domestic loads out of Canada to US

    + Daily error monitoring (OD Pairs)

    Inventory & Quality Control

    + Develops multi-stage compliance/control shipment tracking notification process to follow contracts from expected sale through receipt of final payment and closure of the contract.

    Special Projects

    + Special projects as assigned.

    **Specific Other Responsibilities (regional, local, compliance, etc.):**

    Supports the Companys Anticorruption Program through compliance with the Anticorruption Manual and all Anticorruption Controls.

    Contributes to a strong tone at the top regarding compliance with the Anticorruption Program by providing leadership and direction to managers and employees.

    **Internal Control Responsibilities:**

    Supports the Companys Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures and controls to better relate to the business.

    Communicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.

    **Interpersonal Contacts:**

    Internal contacts include MRB Senior and Executive Management. Contact will also include sales, facilities and operations managers, logistics supervisors and managers, dispatchers, credit and other personnel throughout MRB. Contact may be by phone, email and face-to-face contact with others, specifically the divisions of the Schnitzer Group.

    External contacts include OTR Drivers, customers, carriers, forwarders, customs and quality inspectors, bank liaisons, local and federal governmental regulation agencies, various business contacts, etc.

    **Job Conditions:**

    Standard office environment associated with industrial settings. This position can be exposed to inclement weather conditions. Physical hazards can be present due to the equipment and machinery present at the scrap yards. Work pressure can be substantial during peak times, requiring considerable adaptability; disturbances of workflow, and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on and intermittent basis. Position may see odd hours of work due to the nature of the position and business.

    **Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:**

    Ability to: lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally; sit for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; write by hand and keyboard for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; assemble papers, paper punch, staple, file; apply sufficient force to open and close file drawers. Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Communication is primarily by phone, email and sometimes in person, with other departments within the Schnitzer Group. Visual acuity needed for close detail work, preparing and analyzing data figures, accounting, and computer use.

    **Qualifications:**

    Minimum of 3 years experience in traffic/logistics. Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with multiple operating units or related field preferred. This position requires possession of a valid drivers license and the ability to drive an automobile.

    Working knowledge of Windows XP and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Strong planning, organizational and project management skills. Ability to work and cooperate with others to complete various tasks with established deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to leverage these skills to successfully present business cases and resolve various types of negotiations.
