Major Function:


The School Leader performs responsible administrative and supervisory work around instruction, personnel, curriculum, and all the daily operations of the school.

Works to maintain the integrity of the school as a place for high achieving students that incorporates multiple intelligences and creative education.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementing, evaluating, and reporting to the Board of Directors the school's goals and objectives reflecting organizational and state goals.
  • Maintaining a positive school/community climate and a safe and healthy environment
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating the school instructional program based on student needs and within state guidelines.
  • Reviewing teacher lesson plans and instruction to ensure they match with the Sunshine State Standards.
  • Planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating all other programs, i.e. Athletics, Extra-Curricular, and Co-Curricular.
  • Determining staffing needs including selection, supervision, staff development, and evaluation of all school personnel.
  • Recommending to the School Board the appointment or dismissal of all employees of the school.
  • Ensuring the school is operating within the set budget.
  • Overseeing the proper recordkeeping processes, and inventory control of all school resources.
  • Maintaining records such as, but not limited to, student test scores, attendance records, overseeing IEPs, and all other reports as needed for efficient operation of the school and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Recruiting students and faculty for the school as needed.
  • Ensuring that all academic components of the school's charter are being met.
  • Enforcing the Policies and Procedures of the organization as set by the Board of Directors.
  • Developing and implementing school rules and regulations in keeping with the Policies and Procedures.
  • Attending and participating in meetings of the Board and its committees as requested.
  • Ensuring that the board of directors is informed of the school's operations and any issues or challenges.
  • Being familiar with Charter School Laws and Florida Statutes and attending other duties as assigned.
  • Directing all school administrative operations.
  • Overseeing the instructional leadership for faculty, staff, and all school programs.
  • Gathering information to ensure Data-Driven instruction occurs in each classroom and that Date meetings begin.
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with staff, parents, and the Board of Directors.
  • Providing all documents and overseeing the processing and submission of required reports to the District in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining fair, reasonable, and consistent discipline within the school.
  • Providing a healthy and safe learning environment for students and staff (fire drills, disaster plans, etc.).
  • Supervising the building of the Master Schedule and related staff assignments.
  • Organizing and overseeing staff development opportunities for all employees of the school.
  • Overseeing the school accreditation process.
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture within the school.
  • Recruiting and overseeing the interviewing of prospective staff members.
  • Participating in workshops, conferences, parentteacher meetings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitoring substitute teachers and the class coverage process.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the supervision of the testing and assessment program.
  • Supervising school activities and special events and initiating fundraising activities.
  • Establishing business partnerships and positive relationships with community leaders.
  • Enforcing the discipline plan and assisting teachers with all concerns and issues related to student behavior.
  • Maintaining adequate records for the school, including financial accounts, business and property records; and personnel, school population, and scholastic records.
  • Providing suitable instructions and regulations to govern the safety and transportation of students.
  • Assuming responsibility for the buildings, grounds, equipment, and supplies of the school and supervising the work of the custodians and maintenance staff, reporting to the governing board of the conditions and needs of the school.
  • Ensuring that all employees are evaluated in accordance with the schedule established by the Board of Directors.
  • Overseeing the compilation and preparation of all student achievement outcomes.
  • Overseeing the afterschool tutoring program.
  • Attending all PTO meetings.
  • Communicating effectively with parents, teachers, and students.
  • Perform other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Florida Certification in School Principal or Educational Leadership is preferred.
  • Master's degree, or higher, in administration, curriculum/instruction, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates organization and managerial ability.
  • 35 years of successful teaching experience.
