Departmental Overview

We study the multiple neuro-cognitive processes that contribute to learning, decision-making and executive functions.

We use quantitative modeling at different levels of description (eg. reinforcement learning, Bayesian inference, and neural network modeling) to study the computations performed by cognitive or neural systems.


To inform the quantitative theories developed, we perform behavioral, as well as EEG, imaging or developmental experiments in healthy or patient adult populations.

Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to develop and run human behavioral experiments (online and in person). Ability to maintain and organize experimental data, experimental code. Familiarity with data analysis in R, MATLAB, or Python. Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with a multi-diverse community. Solid written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with EEG or fMRI data acquisition skills. Familiarity with and interest in cognitive science or cognitive neuroscience. Advanced knowledge and expertise associated with conducting and reporting on scientific research experiments and findings. Strong abilities to conduct and report on scientific experiments and findings. Familiarity with scientific process, such as IRB or grant reporting. Familiarity with open science practices. Knowledge of research discipline to collaborate effectively with faculty and function as a resource to research and instructional associates.


Education/Training:

Bachelors' degree in related area (cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience, psychology, or computer science) and/or equivalent experience/training.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $27.44 (step 4.0).

This is a 100%, full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits. This position is non-exempt and paid bi-weekly.
