The Assistant Program Director is responsible for assisting in the operational, managerial, and administrative duties relating to the Unaccompanied Minors program.

The Assistant Program Director must maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working hours other than regular work schedule and evenings, weekends and holidays.


Bilingual in English and Spanish is required for the Assistant Program Director role.

Essential Functions:


  • Assist with collection, maintenance and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the appropriate personnel at national headquarters and the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
  • Assist with overall supervision and management of program personnel including recruitment, hiring, training, and terminating.
  • Review monthly financials, with the Program Director, to ensure compliance with operations/contract requirements. Adhere to negotiated annual budget and spending requirements.
  • Monitor the program facility and vehicle maintenance, inventory control and bulk purchases. Maintain a safe, clean and hazardfree environment.
  • Assist with facilitating the established training guidelines and curriculum for employee training.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with organization, licensing, and funding source for all program departments.

Other Functions:


  • Assume the duties and responsibilities of the Program Director in his/her absence or as requested.
  • Attend all organizational required trainings.
  • Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that uptodate information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Travel as needed for trainings, conferences or to transport youth to destinations located within the U.S.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and hazardfree work area.
  • Develop and maintain productive relations with local, state and federal stakeholders.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of hire.
  • A combination of one of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in a social service or related field, with a minimum of three years direct child care experience and two years of supervisory experience in a residential environment.
  • Master's degree in social services or related field, with one year supervisory experience working with troubled youth.
  • Required to work a flexible schedule to facilitate program services.
  • Cleared Tuberculosis test results.
  • Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
  • Bilingual. (English/Spanish)
  • Cleared drug test results (this one is for Texas programs only).
  • Flexibility and willingness to work irregular and long hours, including evenings and weekends as the position requires on call rotation with Program Director.
  • Maintain annual training requirements/licensure/certifications.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs required to complete daily tasks. Job requires extended periods of sitting; use of various office equipment.
