Description

The mission of the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) is to protect and restore the environment, conserve natural resources, and improve the quality of life in the District of Columbia.

As the nation's capital city, the District will become a model of environmental protection and sustainable environmental practices.

In partnership with other District agencies, the federal government, business groups, non-profit organizations, and residents, the department will help instill environmental awareness through innovation and best practices.


This position is in the Urban Sustainability Administration, Sustainability and Equity Branch and will help support and expand the District's Donation and Reuse Program (Reuse DC).

Reuse DC seeks to divert waste from landfill and incineration by advancing donation and reuse resources, programs, services, and public awareness.

The primary responsibilities of this position include developing creative outreach materials and leading the donation and reuse grant program.

Other tasks include assisting in the development of new donation and reuse opportunities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, nonprofits, and other District Agencies to promote the goals of the program, assisting in events, such as community repair clinics and clothing swaps, and maintenance of the Reuse DC website.


Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent oversees execution of programs of broad scope and mission impact.

Reviews and interprets new and established directives, instructions, regulations, and delegations of authority for potential impact on major program objectives, operating policies, work operations, and progress.

Assures program goals, objectives, and operations.

Develops, maintains, and monitors projects, and integrated reporting system(s) affecting program(s) throughout the activity. Communicates information to supervisor for effective evaluation of program operations and milestones. Analyzes, extracts, summarizes, and identifies significant trends and issues.

Forecasts and estimates program requirements and prepares programmatic reports, justification, charts, graphs, statistical and narrative data, etc., for presentations and briefings.


Qualifications and Education

Specialized Experience:

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must be equivalent to the next lower grade in the normal line of progression.


License and Certification

The work is performed in an office which is an adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated and in the field.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining unit represented by AFGE Local 631 and you may be required to pay an agency service fee (dues) through direct payroll deduction.
