Maintenance Manager to join our team located in Richmond, VA.


Your Role:


The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating activities of Maintenance and Contractor Personnel engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, fabricating parts and tools when required.

You will consult with union representatives and Human Resources on common issues to maintain good relations. This includes investigating grievances, submitting written replies, and assisting with resolutions.

This role is also responsible for parts inventory control as well as inspection and maintenance of the physical facilities and grounds.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform all assigned activities in a safe and effective manner in accordance to established Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices ensuring all team members are trained in and compliant with all safety policies, standards, and expectations.
  • Direct team members in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment. Mentor team and assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Direct the unloading/loading, dismantling, assembling, installing, and testing of industrial machinery.
  • Develop and implement standard work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and reaction plans for all routine tasks to maximize team member effectiveness.
  • Interpret and enforce all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or effectiveness of team members.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, facilitate effective individual/team problem solving.
  • Manage team member performance using the prescribed processes_, _procedures, and tools to promote individual accountability and achieve business goals/objectives.
  • Effectively manage work order control systems to identify, prioritize, and complete required/requested maintenance related activities.
  • Routinely interact with other plant leadership team members to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Effectively manage predictive and preventative maintenance program within the facility.
  • Manage department budget: labor, parts, repairs, and maintenance (Develop annual spending plan, control costs, set objectives, monitor, and explain results).
  • Recommend organizational/departmental staffing structures in regard to responsibilities.
  • Mentor creative and innovative thinking from team members to bring their ideas and career plans to fulfillment.


Ultimately, you will work with the Engineering Manager to establish and manage department and project budgets; develop financial analysis reports for top management, work with other departments to evaluate and conduct feasibility studies and develop process technologies to optimize production.

The Maintenance Manager will support all safety initiatives, policies, and procedures, work closely with the EH&S Manager as a technical resource and when required manage assigned core safety program(s).

We need you to have:


  • 2 or 4year technical degree from a college or technical school; or 5 to 8 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of related professional and progressive manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • 2+ years of prior technical team management experience combined with a proven track record of developing, coaching, and mentoring a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrated competencies in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-Point, Project, and CAD Design.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, managerial, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of technical consultancy with analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise varied complex projects.
