We are currently looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Neuromodulation Engineering Team onsite at our Rice Creek, Minnesota facility. A Day in the Life

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, your role is pivotal in bringing innovative medical products to the market. Your primary focus is on enhancing the patient experience by developing a new generation of patient programmers, allowing patients to manage their neuromodulation therapies effectively, reliability and with ease. Youll be at the forefront of these developments, overseeing all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle. In this dynamic position youll collaborate with a team of embedded software developers across the globe, fostering innovation and applying your technical expertise to drive impactful solutions.

Your daily tasks will include but are not limited to:

Analyze requirements and collaborate with partners (Systems, Security, Human Factors, Electrical, Project Leadership) to understand business needs and improve patient experience.

Use your technical expertise to own design and development of embedded software modules through all Software Development Lifecycle activities: Planning, Requirements definition, Architecture and Detailed Design and Coding, Testing (unit and integration), Release and Maintenance

Plan and execute via agile-scrum development methodologies, leveraging DevOps/Continuous integration environments

Collaborate with a team of globally distributed embedded software developers (internal and external strategic partners) in designing, developing, and delivering embedded software modules

Develop high quality embedded software, compliant with Federal and International regulations (62304, as well as internal Quality System regulations for Class III Medical Devices

Troubleshoot, debug, and analyze product and system wide issues, maintaining and supporting existing embedded software systems

Design embedded software/hardware architecture to ensure hardware will meet systems and embedded software needs

Drive strategic planning, leading discussions on the future of embedded software development, evaluating emerging processes, tools and technologies that can enhance efficiency and quality.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in a technical discipline

Minimum of 4 years relevant software and embedded software experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant software and embedded software experience

Nice to Have

Programming Proficiency: Expert in C language programming for embedded systems

Real-Time Experience & Demonstrated skills implementing Real-time (RTOS) embedded software designs as well as the following concepts/techniques:

RTOS schedulability analysis (Azure RTOS/ThreadX-based real-time designs)

USB CDC and HID Interface

Security solutions (TLS 1.3, x509 certificates, encryption techniques, secure embedded software updates)

Driver development & driver portability

Embedded software development on an ARM v8m architecture including M33 specific features

Bluetooth & RF telemetry communication solutions

Hardware integration & Electrical skills: Experience in electrical board bring-up, including extensive experience with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters as well as familiarity with JTAG and UART to diagnose and resolve hardware-embedded software integration issues.

Regulatory compliance: Experience developing embedded embedded software through entirety of Software Development Lifecycle, compliant to Federal and International regulations (ex: 62304, in a highly regulated environment.

Systems thinking: able to deeply understand and analyze system/product requirements, and ability to effectively communicate and collaborate on product design tradeoffs with cross-functional teams

Agile & Devops: Experience planning and executing under Agile-Scrum development methodology as well as implementing and using Devops/continuous integration development environments.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
