    Responsibilities


    Position Summary:


    The Reference Laboratory Supervisor oversees all aspects of advanced serological testing performed in the Immunohematology Reference Lab and coordinates Pathology and Laboratory Medicine residents training in Immunohematology.

    Job Duties:

    • Reviews serologic work, verifying problem patient records (20%).
    • Directs advanced serological work for difficult problem resolution (5%)
    • Maintains a detailed procedure manual, evaluating and implementing new techniques (10%)/
    * manages inventory of supplies (5%).


    • Performs workload recording (5%).
    • Maintains compliance with AABB standards for Immunohematology Reference Laboratories to maintain certification as an AABB Reference Laboratory (10%)
    • Coordinates residency training in serological techniques (30%).
    • Performs all duties of a Blood Bank Technologist in the Blood Bank Laboratory.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Relationships/Authorities:

    • Reports to the Blood Bank Chief Supervisor, Medical Director or Assistant Medical Director
    • Interacts with regulatory inspectors, auditors and assessors as necessary

    Education/Experience:

    • MS and three years of clinical laboratory experience
    • BS in Medical Technology and two years of clinical laboratory experience
    • BS and five years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • ASCP registered as an MT and SBB strongly desirable
    • Must be NYS Licensed or eligible for NYS licensure
    • One year of Reference laboratory experience desirable

    Pay Range


    Pay Range:
    $ $47.45 Hourly

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.

    Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
